My 1st room smelled really bad (Rm301 how the management does not know this is a mystery - the smell hits you in the face upon entry). After 4 hours I asked to change rooms. This room had an excellent view towards the entrance of the Mount. However, it's 144 steps to the room from Rue Grand. This is not for the faint of heart. I recommend packing light The staff was great and helpful. The room/hotel is located about midway (maybe less) up on the Mount. The bed was large and comfy. Extra pillows and blankets in the closet. The clothes hanger in the closet was broken but not a problem for me. Very good TV signal. The bathroom was large but the shower allowed water to spray everywhere.
Clean, small room that functions as a place to sleep and shower but not much more. It had a TV with the local channels and a couple of channels in english. Allowed us see the island after the crowds had left in the evening and before they arrived with buses. I would stay here again.
I took the flight to Rennes and ask by mail the hotel to help me to go from the airport to the hotel. They was not so helpful because the bus and trains have in a few hours. So I try to book a taxi but it didn’t go trough at all. In the airport there is a lot of rental cars but they don’t have cars there and you need I week in advance to book. So I took a taxi to le Mont Saint Michel. It was a little expansive but the driver was really nice and show me the villages around, stop for pictures. If you need this is his number He leave me on the stop for the bus to go to the “island”. At the hotel The girls on the front desk was really helpful and friendly. I receive a upgrade to stay in th Hotel La Mere Poulard instead of the Terraces. Was late at night and really cold and was great to not go to a room in the cold. I got the bay view, which was nice, I stayed in the 4th floor and It’s a lot stairs, the good thing I read about in others reviews so I just had a small suitcase. The room was nice, clean as the bathroom. The bed is comfortable enough. The toilet is separated which is a plus! Love the compliments: water, teas and the bath kit. The breakfast was great! A lot a variety: breads, cheese, honey, jelly... Suggestions: they should change the carpet on the stairs. Put a safety bars on the tube, the shower is on the tub and is really slippery and dangerous. There is no curtains or glass doors so the water goes all around the floor even if you are careful.
We were happy that it was not far up the cobble stone lane!! I would suggest leaving your large suitcase in the car on the mainland and just bring a small bag, if you are only staying a night.
We were made to wait for our room over 2 hours despite that my daughter was unwell with fever. We sat in the lobby, she fell asleep as yet the staff made nothing to help our situation. Eg. they could have asked the cleaner to clean our room first to help us. Our room was not ready until 15 min after official check in time.
Staff at check in was not friendly. Asked for a map as we got there a little late and information office was closed and was given a very curt answer and then not offered any suggestions
Mont St. Michel was an amazing place. The location of the hotel is great. The breakfast that comes with the room is not that good. The 2nd room I rented for my parents had a broken refrigerator that wasn’t fixed throughout our stay. The front desk person was very pleasant. Food on the island was very expensive for the quality of it.
This gets one star because I can’t give 0. Checked in and carpeted floor is wet. Desk clerk tells me ‘this is normal’. So I ask for a different room which they provide in their annex. It reeks of mildew. I drag the manager up there and she suggests opening the window. They are unable or unwilling to make any other accommodations but give me the card of their ‘director’. The land line is out of service, the mobile went unanswered and I have not had a response to my email in 24 hours. We ended up putting towels on the floor. Stay at your own risk. If not pre-paid we would have bailed. More
This is a great place to stay on Mont Saint Michel. My room was small and right next to the cobblestone streets, so from around 4-8am I was consistently woken up by what I think were vendors pulling wooden carts to their shops. This isn’t a critique of the hotel, but just something to keep in mind when you book (maybe ask for a quiet room?). There’s everything you’d expect of a hotel (shower, blow dryer, mini bar, towels, extra blankets, but no iron, at least that I could see). The included breakfast is excellent. To truly enjoy Mont Saint Michel I do think you need to spend the night, and given that everything is so expensive I think this hotel is worth what you pay for. I’d recommend it.
We wanted to stay on Mount St. Michel and this was the perfect location. The room was ok, but pricey, everything costs extra. The bathroom was nice but the carpets were stained!!!
