Perfekte Unterkunft für einen Citytrip, gute Abindung an Metro. Sehr individuell gestaltete Zimmer.
Quiet, quaint, clean, comfortable bed. Covid prepared. Walking distance to anything we needed.
The Kalorama Guest House is a gem! Lots of character, beautiful neighborhood, great value, and a wonderful host, Jack! You will not be disappointed. I will stay again!
Can't wait to come back! Perfect.
Jack is awesome. Great little guest house. Great location.
The Kalorama Guest House is a classic DC B&B set up in an old stately home with a huge number of bed rooms, each of which have been separated into en suite rentals. What many guests might not know is that this was (minus the attached bathrooms) a very common living arrangement in DC especially during WWI & WWII. Most of these former “rooming” houses have been flipped into condos or re-converted into single family residences without much love for the original architectural details. The Kalorama Guest House is a fun window into the past, with many original details remaining, not a time capsule but capturing enough of the past to make it a fun memorable stay. The location is great for tourists and a short journey downtown for business travelers, but this isn’t really a business traveler hotel. October 2020 the building in which the B&B is located is for sale for $2.3M so who knows how much longer this gem will be around.
Comfortable stay in a nice, quiet neighborhood. The location is within walking distance to the Woodley Park metro station and the National Zoo. The owners are welcoming and friendly and make you feel right at home.
Could not get access. Had to book another place. There was a lock box with a code. When I called the number, the man said the check-in was already closed.
The location is easy to get to by metro. The stop is by the National Zoo. It is about a minute walk to the zoo from this guest house. However, you need to make an outline request with time of arrival, number of people to get to the zoo. It is free. The zoo was open from 8 A.M. onward. The time spaced tickets run out quickly so make it in advance before you come to D.C. The zoo physical showing of animals would have different time would have various time to see so please find additional info on the zoo website. Early appointment would promote more time to see the animals at your own slow pace without dealing with more visitors later in the day. However, later on the day would mean everything would be opened and you could buy the outdoor food and see more animals. The restrooms are easy to get to. However, there is safety precaution due to the virus situation. The metro escalator is to the street very steep. You might consider using the elevator to the street level if you are elderly or disabled person with a wheel chair. It does work thru out the day. Elevator use is self service. The manager of this place would try to do the best of meet your need. You can call him on the phone if he is out of his office to get into the guest house ( off hours) or use the code for the front door lock box. The continental breakfast need more improvement and variety. The room is very spacious for one person to 2 persons and other rooms are suitable for families .
The guest house was good value for money. I enjoyed staying in a residential area in DC close enough to walk to the embassy that i had to visit so that I did not gave to contend with traffic or parking and could fit in a walk to the zoo as a visit bonus. The guest house has no frills, but is quite comfortable. My room did not gave a tv, but books were provided. Jack was very helpful, especially with the on street parking. Overall a very positive experience.
