This is probably our 10th stay at the Mirage. It is still lovely, and as an improvement, I cannot find any grumpy or hostile staff anymore. The food is great if you eat Thai, otherwise not too great. The worst experience were 1) during checkin, if you cannot confirm that the Expedia booking indeed HAS breakfast included, do not let the customer wait for that information for 20 minutes, but take care of that in the back office. 2) The water park is quite worn out especially where you have the "water cannons", and remind you of the patchy streets. This is almost dangerous now. 3) Now we have Thai men screaming JET SKI FOR YOU MY FRIEND when you walk down to the beach, befriended by the security guard and the hotel staff. It's a five star hotel, not a place where you have "my friend" selling you jet skis, which are generally considered scams in Pattaya or Phuket. And not with a loud, attacking voice, commandeering their staff to do this or that in loud Thai across the beach. Ruins your feeling when you feel like set up at some cheap beach. The ladies selling toys or cloth are discreet and do not pester.
