The Edgewater

Pretty disappointed. We were not given the room we reserved. Upon check-in we were told we were given a free upgrade, but the room we reserved is what we wanted not one that looks out to the back of a brick building. We were told both bars were open and when we went to find them they were both closed. The restaurant onsite was full so we had to eat in our room, which was fine. We went back to the restaurant later to at least have a drink, but we were told the restaurant was closing in one hour and we would not be given a table. We came to celebrate Valentine's Day and if it was not for us bringing our own bottle of wine and finding a quiet place in the lobby area ourselves it would have been a total fail. It seems that there is no consistancy. Two weeks ago the onsite bars were open and again, we were told at check-in they were.

The hotel was beautiful. The towels and the robes were amazing. The room however was very dry and warm with no ability to turn the heat to cool. Not sure what the resort fee pays for but overall it was wonderful. We will definitely stay again.

One of the finest Madison city has to offer. We hope to be back!

Gorgeous hotel, has everything it needs to be an excellent place to stay yet the execution is terrible. The front desk employee told us she gave us adjoining suites, both overlooking the lake (that’s what I reserved), and when we went up to our rooms they were across the hall and one was not overlooking the lake. We were too tired to say anything so we decided to order in-room dining so we could go to sleep. They brought our food up in cardboard takeout boxes, yes 3 steaks in cardboard boxes and plastic cutlery.... how are you supposed to cut a steak with a plastic knife in a cardboard box? I expect far better service from a hotel with 4.5 stars, it’s more like a 2 that’s dressed up as a 4. And although the bathroom is gorgeous, the water pressure is incredibly lacking. And you can’t smoke on the balcony. I would not stay there again.

Beautiful views, spacious rooms, really comfortable bed

Old buildings but well kept. Nice and clean everywhere. The numbers of the available tables in the restaurants were so small but understandable considering the COVID situation.

The location and views are fabulous and truly memorable.

Stayed in Langdon building- a little dated. Resortt fee was ridiculous

This hotel is fantastic. However, the pictures on Expedia do not match the room types. We paid a premium price for a premium room and ended up taking a standard room when the room we were given didn't match the pictures. We ended up paying over $400.00 for a $200.00 room.
