Delightful in every way

Wonderful hotel, staff, and food. Very friendly service. Great food for dinner and breakfast. Even reasonably priced. Walking the grounds in the morning before day visitors arrive was incredibly scenic and relaxing. Room was very comfortable and well appointed (appreciate Nespresso machine!)

Beautiful setting. Really friendly staff.. Good Breakfast.. Plenty of parking space.. Only downside, I could hear my neighbours TV. I don’t know if they were slightly deaf or the walls are thin….

Beautiful hotel and grounds, have done well to keep it in such good shape bearing in mind the age of the hotel.

Great stay

I found the staff to be friendly, helpful and professional. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and clean. The hotel is traditional, grounds are amazing and worth exploring, restaurant food is very good and worth the wait

Beautiful hotel, very special place to stay but food let it down, breakfast was awful! Do not be put off by being a family hotel, we had a space in a “grownups” dining room!

It was convenient, the people were extremly friendly. The food was enormous and nice. I had a fantastic experience. Defiantly balue for money. The venue was nice, clean, i didn’t see any pet animals. I would certainly go back there again.

Lovely hotel

Check-in and reception staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating-we were given a really wonderfully warm welcome. Swimming pool was lovely, really warm and a great size and grounds were beautiful. We ate dinner at the hotel and the food was good, however the observation of the restaurant is that it is dated in terms of its decor and condition. The chairs were uncomfortable to eat on as a slightly odd height for a full dinner. There were also some dirty uncleared tables which restaurant staff seem oblivious to, they were you d staff and not very attentive at dinner e.g given food with no cutlery to eat with! However, in contrast, breakfast staff were really attentive and thorough. All in all, a lovely hotel, full of history and character which is very comfortable. I would certainly stay again
Jayne, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Not what I expected

Hotel is not all that it said it would be. It was not made clear when I booked my room that I wouldn’t be staying in the hotel and in fact staying in the lodge a 5-7minute walk from the main hotel. This was not idea as I couldn’t use the pool facilities as I was looking forward to doing. The room itself was very dated. All in all it was not worst the premium paid to stay there
Callum, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Booked the wrong dates by mistake and contacted Expedia within 2 minutes to request a refund. Expedia could not get hold of the hotel and when I spoke with then directly to resolve, they would not cancel the booking and charged in full. Then they tried to re-sell the room I booked, the one they would not refund..!! AWFUL SERVICE, SHABBY HOTEL, AVOID....!!!!!
Mark, 3-night trip

So brilliantly set up to accommodate families. Delicious breakfast. Lovely pool.
Angela, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Some parts of hotel very tired in desperate need of repair or replace. I believe a refurbishment is imminent, not before time. Staff are good but not sure at the moment that it represents value for money. All felt slightly disjointed, some areas neglected.

Great hotel

The staff were all very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Dinner & breakfast were excellent with clear gluten free options.
Gillian, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Good but could have been better

Great location for historical hotel but the room was quite basic for what was supposed to be deluxe, although spacious enough and our first night was spoilt by the window having a thin plastic sheet placed along the lower quarter (to allow a portable air conditioning unit to vent), which meant the wind could penetrate and the sound of rain was amplified.
