Rude service, poor beds

Uncomfortable beds. Hairdryer wouldn't turn off so had to just cut the electricity to the whole room (nice hairdryer though). Rude, almost arguably racist man at check-in desk who was very rude to people who speak little English, had the patience and look of a man desperate to get home (probably even though it was the middle of his shift). Another 2 women who greeted us at some point during our stay were nicer though. Incomprehensible why we pay the city tax at check-in rather than check-out (it is not city policy, we paid at check-out in other hotels). Booked a taxi for my family (on a different booking) - was quoted a ridiculous price (found cheaper by half elsewhere).

We stayed a week in Portugal and only a day in Porto. The stay at HFTuela was so comfortable that next time we’ll skip Lisbon as a primary destination and go directly to Porto. Very clean room, quiet, plentiful breakfast with good assortment of cheeses and meats. Very helpful staff. There’s an excellent seafood place waking distance!!!

Only one issue is, you can hear the noise from next room and when someone is using the toilet upstairs. Otherwise, this hotel is excellent.

My partner and I stayed at HF Tuelo Porto for two nights and I will not be returning because of poor customer service overall quality of the facility. Cons -If you are using the parking, be warned. Tuela Porto only has 13 spots in a very small, tightly packed underground garage. It is not suitable for a SUV/larger car. There is a sister hotel right next door that has multiple floors of parking that you can access (still not great for larger vehicles) but we were not told that at check in. Instead, we had to struggle in the first garage, come all the way back up, only to be told we can park in the neighboring garage and THEN find out there is no adjoining access from that garage to our hotel, so we had to drag our luggage around from one building to the next and up about 7 stairs (there is no ramp at Tuelo Porto entrance). I could have forgiven this fiasco but when we expressed our feedback, we were met with defensiveness and zero effort to rectify / compensate for the trouble and stress caused. Mary or Marianna was the name of the staff that was very rude. Her colleague, George, did his best to apologize but it was only when I asked for the parking fee to be removed that he said he could “look into it”. The parking was ultimately not charged but it really should have been offered give the circumstances. -Rooms walls are paper thin. I could hear everything from next door and up above and it wasn’t because the individuals were excessively noisy. TBC
