In short, my stay at the Miana Resort was a complete disaster. The resort was advertised as '3-stars', but on arrival, I was greeted with sick dogs in the driveway, rubbish in the garden, and a tired, old-looking resort. I'm not even sure this place deserves 1-star.
The room itself was grotty. The air conditioner barely worked and only acted as a sad, pathetic fan leaving the room humid and uncomfortable.
The bed sheets were torn, the bathroom window was covered in face prints, there were cigarette butts, rubbish and broken tiles in the shower, and the drinking glasses were dirty and covered in toothpaste. And to top it all off, there were faeces on the toilet seat that the staff didn't properly clean.
Despite bringing these issues to the attention of the manager, little was done to address them, except 'allowing' us to cancel our booking and leave without a refund. The manager was unwilling to speak to us directly, instead communicating via a junior staff member on the phone from a nearby room on-site.
In the end, we moved to a 2-star resort in a different area that was incredibly clean, beautifully landscaped, and had beach access that did not need us to sneak through another resort (yes, this is the advice you receive at Miana). It was a breath of fresh air after my experience at the Miana 'Resort'.
If you're looking for a comfortable and enjoyable vacation in Phu Quoc, I suggest looking elsewhere.
