The Candidasa Lotus Lagoon is one of the more iconic attractions of Candidasa. It's easy to reach, being right on the main road. The 1,000-sq-meter lagoon is filled with blooming pink and purple lotuses and contains a small garden island with statues as its centerpiece.
The lagoon is open to the public and is a regular stop-off on tours to East Bali. It’s a peaceful place to find a spot under the shade of frangipani where you can also feed the carp and tilapia.

Hillside temple at Candidasa Lotus Lagoon
Across the road from the Candidasa Lotus Lagoon is the 12th-century Pura Candidasa temple, featuring twin shrines under a densely-forested hillside. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and the goddess of fertility, Hariti.
You can climb halfway up the staircase for better views across the lagoon, which includes wider seascapes with Nusa Penida island on the horizon. You can also expect crowds of pilgrims attending the temple during its festive and lively piodalan temple anniversaries, which occur every 210 days on an Anggara Kasih Tuesday based on the traditional Balinese Pawukon calendar.
