Room was great!! Big, comfortable, and had a beautiful shower and hot tub. Fireplace in room too, although we didn't use it. Staff was friendly, restaurant was convenient, with a nice simple menu. we did not have a chance to eat at the more upscale restaurant, although it looked like a spectacular dining venue. Guess we need to return!!
The hotel is terribly outdated. There is a difference between a vintage presentation that would be in fitting with the castle aspect and therefore pleasant and the travel lodge esque room that we stayed in. Ugly floral carpeting, hideous artwork on the walls, a layer of filth on the bathroom door, scuffs all over the walls. I'd put the value of the stay somewhere closer to $150 per night. We stayed during the covid-19 pandemic and were told that was a reason for no continental breakfast. We've stayed at other hotels that have found other options i.e. ĂĄ la carte or boxed breakfast. We felt that with 2 restaurants on premises that they should have offered something in it's place as they hadn't changed their pricing.
We also had dinner at the restaurant and were once again underwhelmed. Our particular waitress didn't even present us with the specials.
We did (thoroughly) enjoy a spa service and felt it was properly priced. The salon/ spa was clean and pleasantly presented. The staff was friendly and courteous.
This property has a picturesque lakeside setting, convenient to the entire Finger Lakes region. The staff were friendly and the room was clean and had a very nice lake view. The historic castle has so much character and makes for a special experience. The Vinifera Inn is an attached, more lodge-style building. The exterior architecture matches the style of the castle, but the interior of the building and rooms is very dated. It was probably quite posh in the 80s or 90s, but appears not to have been updated since then. I love historic properties with antique character, which would be Belhurst Castle itself. Vinifera Inn is more like a sad nursing home, however. It could be really amazing after an interior remodel, but currently is just not worth the price point.
A great experience! The rooms at the Vinifera Inn were large and clean, if a little dated. But the view is impossible to beat! We did a tasting in the wine and gift shop, had several delicious meals at Stonecutter's sitting outside with a perfect view of the water, and got a couples massage at the spa. The only downside is they don't do breakfast, but we found a good spot in town, Water Front Cafe, that did great food and opened early. It's close to plenty of wineries, of which 3 Brothers Winery was a great experience! The people at Belhurst were incredibly kind and accommodating. I'd definitely recommend the place for anyone looking to get away and relax.
