My family and I booked accommodation with Seljalandsfoss Horizons as part of a dream vacation to Iceland. Unfortunately, that dream turned into a nightmare when, just 10 days before our trip, my father suffered a serious health issue, forcing us to cancel our plans.
When we organized our trip, we made every effort to be responsible. We paid extra for flexible options on both flights and accommodations, believing we were covered in case of emergencies. However, we overlooked the fine print in Seljalandsfoss Horizons’ cancellation policy, which voids any flexibility 15 days before the booking date.
We reached out to them, explained the situation, and even provided medical records and a doctor’s letter as evidence. Despite this, they were unyielding and refused to provide any refund—even a partial one. We never checked in, we didn’t use their facilities, and yet they kept 100% of our payment. They wouldn’t even refund us the "extra guest fee" that we paid.
Seljalandsfoss Horizons showed no compassion, no empathy, and not a shred of humanity during one of the most difficult times in our lives.
If you’re considering staying at Seljalandsfoss Horizons, be aware of their rigid and misleading cancellation policy. Don’t waste money on their “flexible” options, consider purchasing travel insurance from a reputable third party instead. More importantly, I encourage you to support businesses that prioritize basic decency and treat their customers with respect.
