10/10 Exceptional

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Woodleigh Coach House. Lovely room, quiet surroundings and delicious breakfast in their cafe. The premises are within easy reach of main roads to nearby Exeter and the coast, as well as lovely local pubs including Traveller’s Rest and Kings Arms for evening meals. I wouldn’t hesitate to return in the future.

Excellent stay, food and staff
It was a very brief stay as we attended a wedding just down the road. The staff were lovely and accommodating and the room was comfortable and perfect for what we needed. The little cafe next door was lovely and the breakfast was excellent. We would definitely recommend a stay here or a day trip to try out the cafe!

Excellent place to stay. Quiet and very clean with a great breakfast. Ryan was very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone for either a stop off en route further south or for an extended stay.

Ok for one night
Room was nice but only window that opened was a Velux. It was a very warm evening and there were no fans available. Bed was a small double. Breakfast served next door in cafe was nice.

Roof windows
Lovely welcome and great breakfast. Good food at The Kings Arms, Tedburn St Mary's, two miles away. Dissapointed with the room only having roof windows (Room two) when we booked this property for it's countryside views. Especially as the room next to ours, which had wall windows, appeared to be unused whilst we were staying.

2/10 Poor

Freezing stay
The stay was horrible. They didn’t turn on any heat until we arrived and the room never got warm. We shivered all night long with the temps in the 20s at night. Completely unacceptable.

Room 3 has a very comfortable bed , an armchair and a dressing table stool . It has no opening window so condensation a problem. There is a velux window with a pole outside room but very stiff. Storage is very limited, could do with a chest of drawers. There is a small shower but nowhere to put soap etc and can’t be lowered. Very convenient location with good choice at breakfast. Room 1 is larger with a nice big opening window and a comfortable bed, though wardrobe space is restricted by a bureau. There are no hooks for wet towels. Both rooms have hospitality tray. We would stay here again.

Looks nice but let down by terrible bed.
Stayed one night in room No1 overlooking the car park. Room seemed pleasant enough on first glance but closer inspection revealed less than satisfactory features. The mattress was truly awful - we think it was upside down (ie a mattress designed not to be turned over) and the springs on it truly felt by us all night. Because of the lack of reception we had no one to contact about it until the morning so it was a really bad night’s sleep as a result. With poor bedding materials - thin and tired lumpy pillows too - it was a poor experience. One wonders why the mattress was turned over in the first place… The room decor is nice but some of the decorations don’t really match which is a shame as it could look fantastic with some effort. The shower in the en-suite an electric model with low pressure. Does the job but not a ‘wow’ experience sadly. No heated towel rail available either to hang the small thin towels provided. The room had a TV with no HD channels that I could see so it wasn’t the best. There was a small wardrobe available but full of old items and partially blocked by an unnecessary bureau in front of it. Plenty of tea, coffee and a few biscuits so that was ok. Included breakfast in the cafe next door - no evening meals available. It was an ‘all-day breakfast’ type of place which again was ok, nothing special to be honest. Seemed popular though presumably from locals/regulars or from the adjacent campsite. Would I stay again? Alas no I wouldn’t
