We stayed here the night after the Great North Run, when the prices were significantly higher, which was somewhat expected. The hotel was fine overall, though there was noticeable wear and tear in the room, like broken tiles and worn furniture. However, it's not advertised as a luxury place, so this wasn’t a big issue.
The location is great, with a nice view of the sea and plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. We dined in the hotel's bar area, where they offered two menus: one for the bar, mostly burgers with just one vegetarian option, and a restaurant menu with one vegetarian and one fish option. They allowed us to order from the restaurant menu while sitting in the bar area.
I initially ordered the vegetarian option, but after 10 minutes, the staff informed me they were out of halloumi and couldn’t prepare it. Normally, I would have gone elsewhere, but since my friend’s food was almost ready, I chose the fish option instead. There was a £3 price difference, and I was surprised they charged me for it, considering it was their mistake. The food itself was quite nice, though we didn’t stay for breakfast.
