We stayed here just one night, using it as a base for a trip to Udawalawe on our way from Galle to Ella. It's close to the bus station, making for easy logistics in and out. The hotel itself is fine, what you'd expect in the forgettable town of Embilipitiya.
As others have mentioned, the real reason to start here is the service. Tilly is extremely nice, attentive, and helpful. He quickly fixed a snag with our booking (the description said the standard rooms have A/C, which they don't) and arranged a safari for us. The truck was comfortable with 6 captain's chairs, much nicer than most of the others we saw. It was a great experience to see the park and all of the wildlife, but not sure if 5 full hours were necessary. The Elephant Transit House was a nice bonus, definitely worth it.
Overall, a convenient place for a quick stop over visit to Udawalawe.
