We spent a great stay at Caprice hotel. The hotel location is fantastic, à three minute walk to the train station and yet in a very quiet spot.
We stayed in an “Eiger View” room and the view is quite simply breathtaking. The beds were however quite hard for our taste.
The hotel offers a very nice breakfast in a breakfast room with a direct view on the Eiger and other mountains.
Finally, the hotel also has a great, very modern spa with two saunas, steam bath etc.
With all those positive things, and while the owners are very friendly, we were disappointed with the attitude of one of the owners, who at several occasions questioned us very bluntly as to “why we didn’t book directly” (that is, not with a platform). As if that was not unpleasant enough, the host at check out complained quite bluntly that we used a credit card instead of a debit card to pay the open amount (CHF 33), since “they already lost 12% with booking on a platform, and now we lost an additional 4%”. This we found quite ridiculous as 4% of CHF 33 equals CHF1.32. You would think that a hotelier would not blame their hosts and tell them they make him “lose money”…
So all in all, a good experience but the owner’s attitude and confronting guests with nitty-picky financial details left us a bit of a bitter taste.
