Our first impression of the Le Meridien Chanba Hotel in Xi'an was awe-inspiring due to its location, majesty, lights and modern look. However upon check-in, we had an issue as to whether or not the room was previously paid (it was previously booked and pre-paid) and if the room itself was ready - this took over 30 minutes to discuss and resolve.
Quite graciously, the on-site manager, Igor, was able to rectify the situation and compensated us with an evening apéritif. Thank you Igor.
As for the suite we booked in, it was both spacious and had beautiful views. Unfortunately however the Master Bedroom shower did not drain properly and the entire bathroom floor subsequently flooded (architectural issue and NOT a clogged drain); also, the children's upper Bunk Bed had a broken bed post fixture and my daughter nearly fell 2 metres to the floor. Lastly, the swimming pool was closed for 1-2 days during our stay (maintenance or cleaning), this was most unfortunate as it was during the height of summer 40 °C and it is my belief that this 'cleaning' or 'maintenance' of the pool could have been performed at a more opportune time for guests.
In summary, we have top marks for Igor who was very professional, personable and was even accessible during his day off - thank you for making our stay memorable and we feel secure in the knowledge that you will help to correct some of these issues mentioned above.
