For the price and location, this was a nice hotel! For security, there's a gate that closes at 10 PM with a guard present. Oddly they give you a wristband to wear to show the guard to be able to get in after hours. They had our booking made through Hotels.com, there was no issue with check-in, and every staff member we met was super nice!
There is breakfast included which is freshly prepared for you starting at 8:30 AM, either continental or Jamaican style. The continental breakfast is more western style, with an omelette, sausage, bacon, plantains, and pancakes or toast. The Jamaican breakfast consists of greens with salted fish, local bananas (not very sweet), a "dumpling" (sort of a dense dough ball), some yucca, and some plantains. We're glad we tried the Jamaican breakfast to get some local flavor, but we didn't end up liking the taste very much and opted for the continental on the second day.
The room that we got (room 101) was spacious and clean with tile floors throughout. The AC worked very well, but our chief complaint is that, like other reviews stated, there is simply not enough hot water. Even though we asked for the hot water to be turned on, we found we got about 1 minute of hot water, followed by only cold. So if hot showers are something you can't live without, this may be a place to avoid. The pillows provided were a bit uncomfortable, as they are decorative style, so kind of rough (and of questionable cleanliness).
