My stay was fine. Everything was clean, no issues with check in or the room.
But there were a couple of off-putting things about this hotel. First, the loud and aggressively religious Jesus music playing throughout the lobby and outdoors. At check in I thought maybe the desk staff was just playing their favorite jams, but sure enough there it was again the next morning. And not anything subtle, it was the "I want Jesus inside me" kinda thing.
The other issue was the dozens of signs posted throughout the lobby, breakfast area, and lounging area - all with lots of instructions/demands about where you can and can't eat, what you can and can't do, and very specifically about how much breakfast you are allowed. It's not that I even wanted to eat a lot, i just didn't want aggressive signage treating me like a child and telling me how many pancakes I'm allowed to have.
It felt like spending the night at a friend's house as a kid without knowing their family was weirdly religious and strict, but expected you to follow their rules if you wanted to spend the night.
I was here for work so maybe I just don't know how things are in the Dells. But I guess I'll just need to keep making up excuses whenever this AmericInn asks me to have a sleepover.
