Pros: Hotel Volga is a beautiful hotel in a very accessible, walkable neighborhood in Mexico City. The restaurant is delicious and the daily breakfast options are fantastic. The cleaning and service staff are also very kind and helpful, and the rooms are always neat. During my stay, I had issues with the air conditioning and the hotel staff gave me another room with no issue.
Cons: The hotel is very dark, everywhere, including the rooms. Barely any natural light anywhere other than the rooftop. The WiFi is not reliable anywhere, and the dining area/lobby is too loud and dark for work. I had to use my hotspot for internet throughout the entire trip because the WiFi either would not load or would constantly disconnect. Also, music was playing loudly all day long, everywhere, even early in the morning for breakfast. In addition, the hotel does not have a phone service and all communication with the Front Desk has to happen over WhatsApp, both for matters such as room service and invoicing. The Front Desk is not always prompt in replying. Finally, I have had issues obtaining my invoice for my lengthy stay at Volga, and have not obtained a clear response as to why from the hotel staff.
All in all, I would say this is a great hotel for a vacation, especially for young people. Most of the staff is kind, and it’s beautifully designed and chic. However, for anything that deviates from a young person’s holiday, such as a family trip or a work trip, I would not choose it again.
