This property is a combination of a hostel and a hotel and we stayed in the full service hotel part. However, the price the hotel charged us was way too high for the service that was delivered. The hotel is more comparable to private rooms in hostels and low quality motels in contentental U.S.and should be priced accordingly. We only stayed one night, and moved on to a four star hotel two miles away that was significantly better - but charged the same price.
We stayed a total of 4 days in San Juan and only saw mosquitos once, the night we stayed at the San Jorge Hotel & Hostel. There were plenty of them both in the staircase as well as in our room and bathroom. Given that the mosquitos can potentially spread tropical diseases and the city itself was almost mosquito free at that time, a better control would be recommended.
Room, towel and linen cleanliness was average and on the level of a good hostel/motel, but not according to the price range of the hotel. The satellite TV was functional but had only two unencrypted channels. The toilet was blocked and not able to flush. Good and quiet A/C, but only in the room and you have to collect the control from reception. Reception staff advised us to park within the range of the hotel security cameras as the area is not the safest. Friendly and helpful staff.
The breakfast consisted of bread, muffins and orange juice. All in low quantities, so that supplies ran out frequently and took a long time to refill.
