This is not a 5-star hotel by any standard.
- first of all there is no concierge service. The receptionists at the front desk are totally hopeless (and I don’t blame them, considering that their job is a different one): when you ask then for tips on restaurants or clubs or places worth visiting, they look back at you perplexed, like “why would I know?”. They will simply hand out a pre-printed list of restaurants, the same way a B&B would do
- secondly, there are three lifts, but only one works. Consider a 10-minute wait on average to go up to your room. Forgot to mention that it’s an 8-storey building, not a skyscraper
- other than that, the area is great and the decor of the hotel is cool.
But the overall luxury and service experience, doesn’t even remotely compare to any other 4-star and 5-star NYC hotels that I have been to.
Thinking about it, this very poor quality of service might be somehow wanted: maybe luxury is not part of the hipster culture? Fair enough, but why should prices be “luxurious” then?
