The main issue was either the hotel or hotel.com fault. We arrived at approx 2pm on 1st Jan from UK, long flight and long drive from Johannesburg. On arrival we found very much to our surprise absolutely no service available, no drinks, although there was a mini bar in the room, no pool service, nothing at all available to eat, not even an offer of a sandwich. The receptionist advised we could go to a nearby restaurant but that was closed too. On top of this our executive room aircon was very ineffective, reported, but no one bothered. The room decor was fine, bathroom and shower area could be looked at as this was looking a bit old. Bed and linen was good. Breakfast on the 2nd was very good although its very much a find out yourself experience as we were not informed there was a hot choice and everyone was helping themselves to the buffet food but after 10 minutes we saw a hot plate of food being served to one guest.
Swimming pool was not heated but the area was in good condition.
I wont return personally but i would have liked to experience the hotel on a non public holiday.
Also i wont use hotels.com anymore, they should have informed us that no hotel facilities were available.
