The room was a boutique room with separate wc and bathroom across a landing. A curtain separated out rooms from the main corridor. The comfort and space was amazing, more like suite. The cleanliness could have been better though. Some large cobwebs in the wc.
Due to it being an old building, the window was single glazed and we were woken by the commuter traffic. Our biggest gripe was the lighting. In the bedroom the ceiling light was a small bulb which barely lit the room. In the bathroom the over mirror light (one was not working) was not bright enough to apply makeup. As we were going out for dinner this was a slight issue.
Breakfast was a buffet of cereals, fruit salad and toast with hot options also available. We both had the English breakfast, very pleasant. Sadly no dairy free options in the food, resulting in dry toast, but they were able to provide dairy free milk.
Overall , we enjoyed our stay, the bed and pillows were comfortable and cosy. The hotel was quiet despite all rooms being occupied. It was close to town and all amenities. Due to the road noise and poor lighting I’m not sure we would stay again.
