Villa Fiorentino lists itself as a 5-star hotel, but it is not, this I know since I worked for 15 years at a 5-star hotel. There is no beautiful lobby, no concierge to help you with all your questions, no doormen to greet you each time you return and no elevator.
What Villa Fiorentino is is a very nice apartment hotel with services. That being said as an apartment rental with services it was very nice. The accommodations, ours a 3 bedroom was very nice and very tastefully done. The view from the patio and bedrooms was awesome, it overlooked the ocean and the hills of Positano. The view was the highlight of the accommodations, you could look out at it all day and night.
The very nice breakfast is brought to you every morning, based on your selections and is set up on the terrace. The staff was very nice and the pool, though small, had a beautiful view of Portofino. One important fact, the accommodation we had had 93 steps to ascend and descend each time you went out or returned. This is not for older or unfit people, actually, Portofino is not for unfit individuals, lots of stairs and hills to climb in addition to the ones you need to ascend once you reach the hotel.
If you are looking for a beautiful view and a large accommodation out of the hustle and bustle of Positano this is the place for you. If you are looking for a 5-star hotel where they take care of your every need, this is not.
