Night markets in Bali offer a unique shopping and dining experience after dark. These night markets are where you can discover favourite local snacks and learn about traditional household items and their uses. Some of these markets seemingly never cease to operate – they serve as morning markets during the day before taking on a different form with more choice of stalls opening from around 6pm.
Here are our picks of the best Bali night markets, all of which feature the common crowded scenes where you brush shoulders through tightly spaced stalls, which is why they’re called pasar senggol (bump markets in the local tongue). The scenes may seem a little chaotic, but that’s just one of the fun and exciting aspects that you should try at least once during your visit to Bali.

The Sanur Night Market is, in fact, the nightly transformation of the traditional Sindhu market where most of the locals and Sanur residents source their daily necessities, ritual items, and morning groceries. By night, usually around 6pm, it provides a sensory experience with its local food stalls opening up and meals on wheels rolling in before cooking up anything from lamb satay to fried rice at very local prices – great for budget travellers. The market’s large parking area serves as the main courtyard for the night market, where you can freely roam and wander around the smoking grills and frying woks for a very exotic Balinese experience.
