Restaurants in Silom are a hot topic for any food-lover in Bangkok as fine-dining venues have been regularly popping up in this lively area over the past few years, and the trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Many Silom restaurants have renowned chefs plying their trade in the kitchen, inevitably helping them gain international recognition throughout Thailand and the rest of Asia.
Silom is also well-known for its abundance of delicious street food, mostly catering towards the sea of workers who spill out of the nearby offices at lunchtime and in the evenings. However, for the best of what Silom has to offer in terms of fine Thai and international dining – often in some rather stylish and contemporary settings – look no further than our list of the best restaurants in Silom.

Le Du

From their incredible octopus with crab mayo and chorizo to their raw Wagyu beef salad, as well as their melt-in-the-mouth marinated oysters, Le Du boasts a creative, innovative and ever-changing seasonal menu. In fact, le du means 'season' in Thai.
Le Du defines their lunch menu as ‘European bistro’, but dinner is a whole other concept, which could loosely be described as innovative haute cuisine. The dining space is simple, sleek and comfortable, making way for the food to do all the talking. The prices for their 4- and 7-course meals are quite reasonable, given the quality of the dishes.

Good views and an even better menu of international delights seem to be a winning combination for Scarlett, a critically acclaimed restaurant on the 37th floor of Pullman Hotel Silom. Occupying almost an entire floor of this 5-star hotel, the designers of Scarlett have spared no expense on the décor, with warm wooden flooring, huge windows taking advantage of the view, and a rather swanky central bar with thousands of glasses dangling from above.
The man behind Scarlett’s menu is 2-Michelin-starred chef Manuel Martinez, so it’s no surprise that the menu is creative and uses some of the world’s finest local and imported ingredients. Somtum Der
- Food
Somtum Der is one of the cheapest places to eat in Silom, but that doesn’t mean their northeastern Thai favorites won’t leave you wowed. Som tam is the name of the game here – a popular papaya salad bursting full of flavor with an outrageous combination of spice (chilli), sourness (lime juice), sweetness (palm sugar) and a touch of saltiness (fish sauce).
There are over 15 variations on their menu, including with salted egg, extra shrimps or grated coconut instead of papaya. Order your som tam with khao niow (sticky rice) alongside their range of meaty delights including nam tok moo (spicy pork salad), suea rong hai (barbecued beef with a dip) or gai yang (grilled chicken). While there are hundreds of local restaurants in Bangkok serving up pretty much the same thing, Somtum Der wins extra marks for its lively open kitchen area, trendy 2-storey interior (with air-conditioning), quick service, and central Silom location.

Open: Daily from 11am to 2.30pm and 4.30pm to 10:30pm

Indigo
- Food
Indigo restaurant on Bangkok’s Convent Road is a long-running French eatery that sticks firmly to tried-and-tested recipes. Classic dishes, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and efficient service have all contributed to the steady success of this now well-known Silom restaurant.
The pretty, colonial-style house features a cozy dining area with plenty of wooden touches, while the air-conditioning makes this space a perfect getaway from the oppressive Bangkok heat during the day. At night when the temperatures subside, many prefer to dine al fresco in the romantically lit garden. Recommended dishes include rabbit stew with white wine, pan-fried sea bass, and steak tartare. Don’t forget to slurp up one of their fresh oysters, which are imported twice-weekly.

- Food
For a taste of Tokyo right in the heart of Silom, look no further than Daimasu Izakaya. From the traditional décor and Japanese-speaking waiters, right down to the imported ingredients and booze from The Land of the Rising Sun, few Japanese restaurants in Bangkok rival Daimasu’s authenticity.
The concept is modern Japanese barbeque, which means you’re sat down at a table with your very own grill and cooking appliances. On the menu is a serious choice of meat, seafood and vegetables. Overall, Daimasu Izakaya is a relaxed and fun dining experience, even more so if you explore their comprehensive range of sakes.
