I visited Trondheim as a city tourist in the summer, but almost everybody else in the hostel was cycling or hiking their way through Norway.
This hostel is absolutely for such people.
To start with, there is a very cheap laundromat in the building next to the hostel. Just 25 NOK (about âŹ2) for a wash and free drying!!! That is the cheapest laundry I have done on trips in Europe.
The hostel also has a kitchen, which was used by a few people to cook large quantities of food to take on their camping/hiking, when they won't have access to a kitchen. It is a relatively small kitchen though.
The views from the hostel, at least in summer, are great.
The hostel itself is on top of a hill, so factor that in if you are carrying a lot of luggage on a cycle or are walking.
I was surprised that I had to make the bed. I donât think I have had to do that at any hostel before. Staff were extremely knowledgeable, kind and helpful, made my trip much better. The schoolkids were really noisy but I guess thatâs to be expected.
