The hotel is located close to downtown and within 10 minutes walk of the exhibition halls. While the overall neighborhood is supposed to be quite upscale, the direct surroundings of the hotel are not exactly attractive with lots of neglected houses, garbage cans permanently on the streets and homeless cats and dogs running around.
The greeting upon check-in at the reception was very friendly and the lady was making every effort for a warm welcome.
The standard room on the 2nd floor which I booked was clean and bed and furniture were quite new and of decent quality. Bathroom was good, although water pressure was not exactly high on the 2nd floor.
Breakfast was satisfactory and even though fresh cut fruit lovers like me had only some watermelon to choose from, the overall selection was decent.
Now to the somewhat regrettable aspect of the hotel: Most room have the beds in direct proximity of the exit door and both the door and the hallways are not exactly very dampened or soundproof, so guests coming late or leaving early can be bothersome while sleeping. To make things worse, there was a power outtage one night. As the emergency generator came on, the AC and TVs in each room restarted and went from standby into auto operation. So all guests were woken in the middle of the night by their TV turning itself on both when generator came on and again when electricity was restored. Made for a very bad night. Outtages do happen, but TV settings should be changed to avoid this.
