I've rarely seen a greater disconnect between photos on a web site and the reality of a room. The room I wound up in was more of a cell, with one window 15 feet up against the ceiling. It offered no ventilation in the stiflingly hot room, and I had to make several calls to get the air conditioning turned on to and to borrow a fan.
The condition can best be described as neglected. The bathroom fixtures were all corroded, the towels were old and frayed, the bedsheets had holes in them, and the pillows were so old and flat I had to pile 3 one top of each other just to get a little support. When I opened to closet, there was a coating of dust on the shelf. Fortunately, I had also been given a stained bath towel so I used that to clean the closet.
The location is very central, which is great for moving around the city, but it can very noisy at night (particularly when the restaurants dump their recycling in the bins in the alley).
All in all, this was a very poor B&B, and it adversely affected my experience of Lecce. I contacted Hotels.com hoping they could do something to help. They did nothing but offer me some onekey cash, which is of no use to me as this experience has convinced me not to use Hotels.com again.
