Wonderful location, unpredictable service and facilities.
Laluna is situated on its own secluded beach, with just a few perfectly isolated villas dotted up the hillside. It really is a perfect setting for a peaceful holiday. Lovely spacious villas, each with their own large balcony and plunge pool.
However, the resort just didn't seem to be that ready for guests. The spa was closed - and never opened while we there, unless you booked someone from another hotel to come over. We'd asked for a beach view villa, but were initially led to a garden view villa - having travelled for a good 10 hours, we then had to wait for 2 hours to be moved to the right villa. Some things just didn't work - the TV seemed to work only with a remote control held by the hotel maintenance department, the hot water wasn't switched on until we asked why it was so cold, a jamming door was fixed, but jammed again within a day.
All of which might well be early season issues. That said, there seemed to be a penny-pinching philosophy to the resort - fresh fruit drinks of the day were watered down, if you asked for a soft drink, whatever was left in the can was put into the fridge (unless you asked for the whole can), and your limit in terms of drinking water was too small bottles a day, after which it was $5 for a 2 litre bottle. And the service was pretty variable - some of the staff were truly lovely, some surprisingly rude.
So, a mixed experience, albeit in an idyllic setting!
