We started our stay on a very positive note. The hotel itself was lovely, comfortable, and perfectly fine for our needs. The woman who welcomed us was especially kind and gracious, taking the time to show us around and making us feel very welcome.
Unfortunately, breakfast the following morning was a completely different experience. We came down and waited at least 10 minutes, but there was absolutely nobody around. The kitchen door was open, and we could see baskets of croissants, bread, and cake, while plates had already been placed on the small tables. There was no sign whatsoever saying not to help yourself, nor had anyone told us beforehand that breakfast was table service and that we were supposed to sit and wait for someone to bring food to us. After standing around for 10 minutes with nobody in sight, naturally we assumed it was self-service and helped ourselves to some croissants and jelly.
Eventually, a gentleman appeared and brought us a tiny glass jar containing a little minced melon, one slice of kiwi, one small piece of strawberry, and a small container of yogurt. The entire breakfast felt incredibly uninspired and, frankly, rather stingy.
What really surprised us was when he noticed my partner was still eating and told him that we were supposed to wait because each table receives its own basket containing a specific, counted amount of bread and croissants.
