Suesong Lake in the south of Daegu is a place for fun and recreation all day and into the evening. The glowing reflection of city lights on the water makes this a great spot for a late-night stroll. Daegu Opera House stages a new opera nearly every month along with classical music performances by leading Korean artists. The compact, modern opera house is located close to the city centre and is a vital part of the city’s cultural scene. It was the first municipal opera house to open in South Korea and it strives to promote theatre and music in the local community. Each autumn it hosts the largest International Opera Festival in Asia. 

Productions have included classics of opera like Faust, Hansel and Gretel and Madame Butterfly. For the best experience of the performers’ spectacular vibrato, take seats on the first floor, which is known to have the best acoustics.
