I loved the dark, cozy & sophisticated ambience - like at a 5-Star-Hotel - everything new and modern.
Staff was mainly very friendly, helpful and professional, especially at the restaurant. At the lobby it was not always the same standard of welcome from everyone. Some are very friendly, nod or smile at you when you enter and say hi, others ignore you (probably not intentionally). There should be a certain standard that is upheld by all the staff.
The room cozy and spacious, modern and with a comfy bed.
A big minus: No capsule coffee maker. I also missed a fridge.
Controlling lights and such is standard, also no master switch at the bedside.
Brakfast was a la carte. It is intended that you choose 1 starter and 1 main course. But no worries: Altering dishes, reordering, changing according to your diet is no problem at all. You have to bring 1 hour of time.
Don’t expect a quick breakfast like when there is buffet. Sometimes you have to wait quite a bit. It was right for me though as I enjoy slow breakfast routines when on holidays.
Houskeeping was quite different from day to day. One day very thorough, the other not so much. Sometimes amenities weren‘t refilled.
The hotel is well located near the center and the gay village and yet at a quiet location, Piccadilly station is only a 5- to 10-minute walk away and there is a small grocery store right opposite of it. Overall, I can look past the minor issues and I was very happy staying at the Dakota. Recommended.
