Positive: the guy at the restaurant kindly called me a taxi, room was quite large, grocery store nearby
Negative: I was charged almost 2x more than the app said I would be charged in local taxes, no explanation was given in English, Russian or Ukrainian... room had a heater/air conditioner but no remote was provided so I could not use it, one of the blinds was missing from the windows and had no curtains so the light from outside would come in the room when you try to sleep... housekeeper confronted me in the hallway and told me not to put the towels on the bathroom floor and to use the welcome mat from the hallway that you use to dust your shoes off with... surrounding area is kind of depressing and run-down
My biggest concern however is that to enter the hotel, which is more or less an adjacent wing of the restaurant complex with no 24-7 front desk, you have to walk down an alley where there is a very shifty and rude security service monitoring everything, and they have a dog chained up who never gets to walk around, he is kept there almost like a prisoner with a small dog house, but he never gets to walk on dirt or grass and is treated worse than a criminal.... I worked as a volunteer at an animal shelter in Moscow this summer and it is sad to see that 100's of dogs in a state-run animal shelter get more freedom and rights than a dog in Kiev, and the restaurant/hotel owner knows full and well about this... this is ANIMAL ABUSE and for this I cannot recommend this hotel
