The location of the Hotel is excellent, and so is the bar on the rooftop….. this venue alone rectifies a stay at the Hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean, yet the superior rooms, which are marketed with the stunning view toward the city (which is true), are quite noisy. Either because of traffic, but mainly because of "partying" people at the seats of the riverfront at late night….that makes sleeping with open window impossible.
But the real reason for the mediocre rating is the service level, which ranges from really bad to ok.....based on whom of the staff you are dealing with. In general: people in Spain talk spanish, no wonder ;-.), yet the region is relying on tourists from all over the world….and thus it´s strange, that so many people working in local tourism are not able to understand and talk english…. not even basic! Not being able to is the one thing...but not even trying to understand and help and then ignoring customers is the other thing….reminds of France back in the 70s and 80s.
The language issue goes for restaurants, bars and other venues in the area...so that´s not specific for the Hotel, but yet even more bothersome…..whereas I have to specify, that in the Hotel the majority of staff has at least tried to understand and assist accordingly..with a few unpleasant exceptions.
