On the positive side, the room was large and seemed clean. However, this hotel felt off to us. It is trying to be upscale (expensive stuff for sale in the lobby) but truly felt overpriced for what it actually is. The valet asked us to pay 65 in cash per night—but the front desk person was baffled by this and put it on our bill. So, a scam? Basic things were missing—there was a terrible useless space-hogging light on the shared night table—and no usable reading lights anywhere, and the room was incredibly dark and drab. The tub was chipped and stained and sink delivered hot water out of both taps! There was a coffee maker, but the only way to use it was to put it on the floor near the only available outlet. The housekeeper completely forgot to clean our room and when I called to ask for service, the person at the front desk was addled and tried to blame us. When she showed up—super-sweet and apologetic—she said there was not enough staff (it was around 3:30 pm at this point) to do all the rooms. The TV had old-fashioned on demand movies at $20/each, which I have not seen in a hotel in years. In other words, the experience was total budget hotel despite the veneer of polish on the outside.
