We stayed in the Bamboo Suite. If you're looking for a romantic and adventurous stay in Maui away from the throngs of tourists, this is your spot. Easy jumping off point to the road to Hana and the volcano sunset/sunrise (both MUST do's when on the island.) Its also close to cute upcountry towns, our favorite was Makawao. There are pretty beaches nearby with turtles and surfers, but its windy especially in the afternoon. You will need to drive 40-60 minutes to the calmer beaches on the West and South side of the island.Having a luxurious spacious place to come home to was worth the scenic drive on our beach days. Place comes with everything you need for a beach day including beach chairs and a cooler (no umbrella or refreezable ice packs for the cooler so if you have room, pack those or check with Tom and Vicki if they've added thise). They are SUPER responsive hosts who live in another house nearby. You'll likely never see them, but they answered texts quickly. If you do the sunset/surise, bring the chairs-and warm clothes! Other notes: Wifi is super spotty, we were never able to stream anything, but gave us more time to connect as humans. Kitchen is nice, but not much of a pantry. Bring or buy your own spices/oil. GREAT shower. GREAT AC. GREAT shared lanai and gas grill. Never saw a cat or horse, but heard lots of birds amidst our peaceful jungle view.
