After letting us wait for 8 hours at checkin (coming from a liveaboard in the morning), and offering/showing no flexibility (not even a minute) for an early check-in, we finally got our room at 3pm. To our surprise we detected bed bugs while sleeping, so we asked the reception around midnight to change the room - obviously that was not possible (fully booked, but we couldnt see any other guests) so we requested the manager. His first response (instead of an expected apology) was that other ‚guests experienced the same (bed bugs)“ but they wouldnt complain. He made us feel that we are the ibly guests who would complain, „because we are in the jungle“. Of course my partner and I have been travelling a lot and we can certainly differentiate between mosquitos (which are in a jungle, yes) and bed bugs due to bad cleaning. We had to negotiate a full hour with the manager, until we got all our money back, to make our way to another hotel, with friendly staff. It wasnt all about the bed bugs or letting us wait for 8 hours at the reception, it was the way we were treated, arrogantly and unfriendly. The manager and the other staff was even making fun of us, because we felt like badly treated and we emphasized that fact. A pitty we have to write such an experience, because the resort is a nice and quite oasis, where we felt comfortable.
