You can't fault the location, 10 minutes walk from station overlooking the river and gardens, Bath Abbey and shops are 2 minutes away. Friendly staff who took our bags at 10am and we returned for check in at 3. Old building with character, sizeable bedroom which could do with a makeover. Furniture a bit tatty but the bed was comfortable enough. Bathroom clean and adequate but could do with an upgrade. Chilly on arrival but warmed up quickly when radiators turned on.
Breakfast upstairs in huge room, plenty of tables. Small buffet of juice, bananas, yoghurt, tinned grapefruit, tinned fruit salad, ham, salami, cheese, hard boiled eggs, cereal, toast. Some prepackaged pastries as well. Tea and coffee to order brought to your table. Happy to store bags after checkout until later in day.
Staff very friendly and helpful. We were going to sit in the attached bar until time for our train. Unfortunately the bar was rammed with rugby fans. The guy in reception let us sit up in the breakfast area until it was time to go.
This hotel is in a great location, with good staff. Don't go expecting 5 star luxury and you will be fine.
