The Hotel is located close to public transport (5min walk) and within 30-45min walking distance to many sights and places (Chinatown, Ferry Building, Fishermans Wharf, etc).
The room and common areas were clean, the shared showers and toilets always in good condition and appeared to be cleaned several times per day.
Breakfast was ok (cereals, toast, pre-baked mini waffles, yoghurt, coffee, juice), but seating possibilities are very limited.
As others have mentioned, the hotel is located on top of a nightclub. We're not very noise-sensitive and were thinking that others were just overreacting - but as we had to find out, the music at night is really loud, especially the bass is shaking the room a bit - even though we stayed on the 3rd floor with one hotel floor already in between our room and the club. Most annoying were the people outside the back of the club, smoking, laughing and shouting (though they probably didn't know of the hotel above). The earplugs provided by the hotel were necessary to find sleep, but with them in it was no problem. Music stopped around 3am.
The location of the hotel is not as bad as mentioned by other commentators. There were some homeless people on the street (as in any American city), and they were thankful and nice if you had a dollar for them and didn't badger you if you hadn't. There are several newly renovated buildings around.
The staff was really nice and we were able to leave our luggage for some of hours after checkout.
