Hotel with character, used to be the old police station, however the room's are outstanding, touch pad light and AC controls. Newly refurbished bedrooms with small kitchette, large king-size bed with top quality pillows and duvets.intersting hotel bar with nice surroundings highly recommend staying here, 15 mins walk from station, Location is right near everything in the city centre

Very good location near to the centre of town and not too far away from the station which is rather out of town. Beautiful old building and comfortable albeit compact room. Very nice staff and we loved everything apart from the breakfast - self-service and rather poor quality cold food items with little choice. It was a surprise as it didn’t chime with the rest of the hotel which lent itself towards a more upscale service so hopefully this is constructive feedback.

The hotel was in a great location but parking at the local multi-storey was very expensive. The breakfast was lovely but our evening meal was very disappointing as there wasn’t much left on the menu. What we did have was very bland. The staff were very friendly and our room was lovely but did overlook people in the restaurant which was a bit invasive.

Fantastic location, an excellent example of upgrading a historic property, and a spacious room with a kitchenette. Managing the lights going on and off was tricky at first, but we got it sorted.

Boutique style, but whilst some very modern touches, some basics let it down. Breakfast changed to continental without notice or price reduction (£21).To be fair, we were credited for the one day we tried it. TV was not ‘smart’, basic channels only Kettle lid was broken. Toilet permanently flushing, until we raised it at which point it was mended. Room only serviced every third day, but insufficient tea, coffee and milk for 3 days without asking Bath towel had large hole. Replacement was available, but shouldn’t have been necessary. Available parking is 10 mins walk away and cost £55 for 3 nights

We mini-mooned at The Hobson and had a such a good experience we booked an extra night! Beautiful buildings, rooms and wonderful service. Chris behind the front desk couldn't do enough for us, taking pictures of us in our wedding finery in the impressive setting and making us feel very special. The restaurant is reasonably priced for such high-quality food. Try the octopus!
