While the hotel is spacious and beautifully designed it doesn’t offer much comfort for the price. The bed is very short, there are always lizards, bugs and mosquitos in the rooms and the outdoor toilet is kind of creepy, especially at night. The garden smelled absolutely horrible at times, we couldn’t figure out the cause for this.
While the seaweed situation in Tulum is of course out of their control, it is worth mentioning that there is a massive mountain of seaweed right in front of the hotel because that is where it is collected before it is taken away in trucks. Prices at the mini bar are shameless (8 US$ for a water, by far the highest prices I’ve seen in Mexico).
The included breakfast is also not really satisfactory - you get a tiny bowl of fruit and toast. Staff was also not super friendly except for the bartender.
To be fair, the hangout area at the beach (although it is a bit further back and not right at the water) is really beautiful and so is the restaurant.
