I tried to reserve a regular king room, but I was forced to take the one with the sofa. The sofa happened to be a chair so I don’t agree with a 35$ up charge.
Upon entry, I was greeted but there was a hostile man upset about a deposit at the counter. The new staff at the second desk who was in training, could not check me in. The front desk needs two reps at the counter during peak times who are able to resolve issues.
The room had no refrigerator, no microwave, the building had no ice, vending had no water bottles to take my medication. I woke early to get breakfast only to be told that they were was none, because they were new and only purchased 2 weeks ago.
I asked the staff to refund part of my stay because the price was higher than usual due to events the weekend. His response was that he was new and management would not be back until check out time. I tried to be nice.
I left note for management to call me back and did not receive a phone call. I called 3 times from my personal phone until I used my business line and they answered right away.
I was bitten on my neck by a spider or something. Not happy about that either.
The room was in great condition. I can tell everything was remodeled except the air conditioner. However they shouldn’t advertise things that they don’t have. I’m going to see if I get back a refund like I asked.
I stayed at the sable on the pier and paid less than that the last time I came to Chicago.
