It is really not much to add to that statement. You get what you pay for.
B&B Avranches is an inexpensive hotel for one stop-over on, and as such it works pretty well. It is located quite in outside of Avranches, by it is only 10 minutes’ drive from its center and few minutes from the highway. The hotel is built rather like a US motel: three stories buildings with the rooms opening directly onto a parking lot or long open (covered) staircase in the second and third floors. There are stairs but also the elevator. The rooms are clean and equipped with the essential things, the bed was comfortable and enough power outlets available. There are towels but no toilet articles. Most importantly, the reception is not open 24x. There is a self-service check-in automat instead. Few days prior the stay they send a long digital code. With that code you need to logon on the automate, get another code, and use it to open the room and get into the building. There are no typical key or card. Every room is equipped with an electronic panel and open with the unique code. This all worked very well though.
The included (or reasonably priced) breakfast in the morning was actually quite Ok. I didn’t expect this. French bread, croissants, perhaps some sweeties, cornflakes, milk and jam. Actually, quite similar to any other small hotel in France.
We got the room really cheap, and it in overall it was excellent value for money.
