There are basically four tiers of temporary residence available at UBC. First are the freshman dorms with group bathrooms. Cheapest option, but no AC and no breakfast. Next level is the TRIUMF house with various rooms and bath options. The top tier is the Gage Suite complex; very, very expensive but the best perks: new, AC, kitchenette, modern private bathroom, big TV. Which brings us to Carey House. It is a good option in the middle of all these properties. It offers private bathrooms and in room televisions and refrigerators (freshman dorms do not). Carey rooms do not have AC. However, this is the only one that offers breakfast in the morning, and it is real, cooked food. My room was obviously updated recently, but the bath tub did not seem to make the schedule. It was showing distress and age. This property has underground parking! All the other properties' parking spots are all outdoors and not conveniently close. It is expensive, $26/night, and you have to use an app to pay. Speaking of paying, when i checked in, I tried to pay with a different card to gain points, but the property has already charged the card I used to make the booking early that morning. I understand charging for a no show, but wait until that evening before you charge.
