The moment we arrived I noticed a massive construction site right in front of the hotel entrance. So I’ve asked for a room facing the back of the hotel. The staff didn’t speak much English and just kind of nodded it away. I assumed it was taken care of. When we reached the room it was on the top level but right on the opposite side of the construction. The windows were single glased and didn’t close properly so you can image the level of noise. When I called reception I think I was speaking to the manager. Her English was much better and she let me know that all twin rooms are on the same side. Construction partially went on at night and too loud for a conversation during dayt. However, we didn’t get any offers in terms of a discount or other amenities neither were we warned about it so we could have chosen another hotel. If I cancelled the room I would have been fully charged, so not an option. Other than that the room was nice and relatively clean. But, it smelled terrible - somebody must have been smoking for days in the room. The air condition was only working on a very low level (remember the single glased windows?). The area was a bit chaotic (China town?). There are buses running frequently and a train station is about 20 minutes walking distance away (10 if it wasn’t for the never ending traffic lights). When I inquired about information (room, places to eat and where I can find a mailbox) nobody really bothered to help me, due to a lack of English language skills.
