Gah, made a mistake booking this one!
We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 tweens). I only read the reviews when we were on the train coming to London unfortunately. We had a family room which turned out was in the basement (I was told all the family rooms are). Worst things about our stay:
- Small room, not really suitable for 4 people so we were tripping over each other once stuff came out of suitcases.
- Strangely hard to open door to the room itself as it got stuck on the carpet.
- Small window with obscured glass. Once you open it, the view is a brick wall and creepy door so not really any natural light.
- No kettle, had to ask reception twice for one.
- Hot and stuffy - a constant battle to get aircon right.
- TINY bathroom. Loo seat not fixed on property, nowhere to attach shower head to be able to stand under it. Clean enough but in need of maintenance.
On the plus side, the beds were comfortable and the sheets clean. The location is very good - close to Queensway tube station and walking distance to Notting Hill. The breakfast was average. Good selection of stuff but fruit was partially frozen, no brown sauce and no plant milk available on request.
All in all, I wouldn’t recommend it. There are far better places to stay for the same cost. I imagine rooms in the upper floors are a bit better but we found waking up in this room a bit depressing in all honesty!
